Glockenspiel - Ice Sun (Orginal Mix)
[progressive house/experimental]
Glockenspiel, Glockenspiel... why did you leave Moonbeam Digital for this release?! I am not sure what the story is on this but this release was released under the label Tone Diary... be that as it may, Glockenspiel's production skills have not fallen behind... I hope this doesn't have anything to do with the new direction that Moonbeam went with their last release, seems that they are attempting to head more in the tech house direction... not sure. As far as this track specifically: the first thing a fan of this sort of progressive will notice is the beautiful usage of the drums... no cymbal is utilized that doesn't need to be, all just perfectly held out... mixing in with the ambient/fx sounds... wow, this makes for that sort of prog/exp that I love to hear! That nicely compressed bass line really works well with the rest of the track, get lost in this one! Prog 4 life!

Jerome Isma-Ae - Smile When You Kill Me (Original Mix)
[tech house]
Jerome Isma-Ae is back on the charts with some serious in your face dark themed tech house... truly living up it's name 'Smile When You Kill Me' seems to give you the feeling of darkness, insane darkness; so simple but so powerful... We have seen Jerome Isma-Ae release more club focused tracks in the past and here we see that he (like many artists) is trying to hop on the tech produciton train... the problem with that is that many artists seem to fall short of the mark when they switch from prog over to tech... (ahem, Fedde!) but Jerome does not... this is the kind of tech people want to hear... this shit really revs you up! It is that type of tech that sports lil' tastes of melody before it drops back to the your face vibe... can't wait to hear more of this sort of tech! Enjoy!

Avicii vs. Philgood - House Is Dead (Original Mix)
[progressive house]
Here we go, some real bumpin' shit for all you clubbers and lovers of bangin' bass lines... you guys already Avicii never fails to impress but let me explain to you about this tune... beuatiful unqiue progressive here... begins with a pretty classic funky style; wonderful bass line... straight up grooving... but when the breakdown comes... that is something special. I would have to say that part of song really made me fall in love with this track... Dig on the little bell melody mixing with the beautiful organ melody!! When the bass comes back, it's over; this is a motha' fuckin hit! Avicii man! Keep on bring in 'em through man... with you house will never be dead! Yeaaah!

Enjoy.

Lazy Jay - Oracle (Original Mix)
[progressive house]
Haven't heard anything else from this Belgian producer but based on the quality of this track I will be expecting to see much more of him in the future. Here we have an excellent example of beautiful progressive: not too all over the place, not too straightforward; it is just a simply beautiful medley of synthwork. As soon as the breakdown hits you do feel as if you are really upon an oracle, I really love when a song can own up to it's name... almost like poetry... the name matches the content of the art. Beautiful progressive is meant to take you on a journey, take a trip on this one.

Roman Salzger - Alpha & Omega (Original Mix)
[progressive house]
Here we have some super housey progressive, that good ol' feel good type of funky shit!! Don't worry though, no annoying vocals destroying the track; just beautiful instrumentation... just a beautiful contemporary flip on an old vibe. Sporting a impressive bass line, molding the worlds of funky classic house and deep together here; really feel like I'm stepping back about 10 years on this one! Great for the early night at the club or just for turning up real loud in the car as you cruise down the freeway... dig on this funky gem... loving that lead synth line!! Takin' it back!

Avicii - The Birth (Original Mix)
[progressive house]
This Swedish heavyweight has done it again people, another progressive masterpiece here available for all of you prog fanatics and lovers of the full on experience of electronic music. Sporting a cool little catchy upbeat foundational synth-line that really makes that track something different, it like a jumpy version of Orbital's really high-pitched Belfast synth... also, look out for the really well placed tiny vocal sample in good taste... he chooses to throw it in right before the beat drops and that kind of brings back memories of the way things were produced in progressive about 5 years ago; when things were always more on the trance side. This track starts out being just steady prog, just OK in terms of Avicii; but as all good progressive does... it builds like crazy! Once the beat fully drops, you can really see that this track is something special!

Until next time.
Enjoy.
